Re-Casting Hogan’s Heroes

The other day I had a bit of fun recasting Babylon 5 for a (not scheduled at this time) reboot. So I thought I’d take one of my favorite TV shows during my much younger days and try to recast it too. I’m thinking of a one-off movie here. It would still be a comedy but slightly more serious than its small-screen parent was.

So here goes with the Character first, the original actor in parenthesis and my idea for the reboot. One note, a couple of these guys might be a wee bit long in the tooth but as long as they are alive (and after Samuel Jackson was de-aged in Captain Marvel nothing is off-limits) they were considered.

Col. Robert Hogan (Bob Crane) – Chris Hemsworth

Col. Wilhelm Klink (Werner Kempler) – Jurgen Prochnow

Sergeant Hans Schultz (John Banner) – Arnold Schwarzenegger

Cpl. Peter Newkirk (Richard Dawson) – Martin Freeman

Sgt. James Kinchloe (Ivan Dixon) – Don Cheadle

Cpl. Louis LaBeau (Robert Clary) – Nathan McMullen

Sgt. Andrew Carter (Larry Hovis) – Mark Wahlberg

Hilda (Sigrid Valdis) – Malin Akerman

General Albert Burkhalter (Leon Askin) – Christoph Waltz

Major Wolfgang Hochstetter (Howard Caine) – Daniel Bruhl

Colonel Rodney Crittendon (Bernard Fox) – Stephen Fry

Tiger (Arlene Martel) – Dakota Johnson

Marya (Nina Talbot) – Emma Stone

Okay, what do you think? Who would you cast?
