Stop. Just stop.

If you’ve been around here for any length of time you already read what I had to say about ConCarolinas treatment of John Ringo and their recent announcement.

And, to no one’s surprise, the social justice zealots are going after two members of ConCarolina’s committee. They are looking to oust them and replace them with people who have no issue being Thought Nazis. They’ve even started an online petition that has garnered 101 signatures after one full day.

Unfortunately for the SJZs another petition was launched in support of these two Con members. In just four hours it crashed through the 500 signature barrier and is still climbing.

(EDIT/UPDATE: The petition to oust has reached all of 126 signatures. The petition to support the two con runners and the con itself is nearly at 2,700 signatures.)

If you are sitting here thinking that this should get the message through loud and clear to the SJZs that their campaign of hate and exclusion is unwanted in SF/F fandom…well, you don’t know them like I do.

They’ll keep at it. They’ll keep attacking anyone they deem guilty of “WrongThink”. They’ll keep claiming they are all about “inclusion” when in fact their true aim is to exclude.

I’ve said it before many times and I will repeat myself again: The sci-fi/fantasy fandom tent is huge. There is plenty of room for all of us. If there is a guest at a con you don’t like there is no need to panic. There are plenty others who will also be there you’ll probably enjoy seeing.

And that one guest? He or she won’t even know – or care – that you are there and that you did not stop by their table. They aren’t going to run you down, tackle you and demand you speak to them. They’ll be too busy talking with the people who do want to attend the con and see that guest.

In fact, the only side that has made threats of violence has been the “inclusion” crowd. It was their terrorist tactics that led to ConCarolinas asking John not to come as they could not ensure his personal safety from the SJZs.

John never made any threats. Nor has Larry Correia – who was dis-invited from Origins due to a baseless allegation. Nor has Jon Del Arroz – who was pre-crime banned from WorldCon for considering bringing a bodycam to document any actual attack (yes he was threatened) at the con. I’ve been to a few similar events and never attacked anyone. Declan Finn and many others can make the same claim.

We aren’t the danger. We aren’t the threat. We aren’t the ones demanding others be banned.

It is time for those making these threats against authors, creators and con runners to grow up and learn to behave like human beings. It is time for online shitposters like Mike Glyer at File 770, Camestros Felapton, Aaron Pound and many others to dial down the hate, the lies, the slander and the defamation they have spewed online.

It is time for the SJZs and their supporters to stop this nonsense. Just stop and reevaluate your lives.

There is room in the SF/F fandom tent for all of us.

There is no room for your hate. Check it at your door before you leave your house.

  1. I share the view that everyone can be at con, but i will call a spade a spade…

It’s not just the sjw crowd and the “inclusive” yet exclusive “liberals”

I was at the con as a volenteer. We had more than a few “anti sjws” who where full of vitrol and death threats as well.

I agree we should leave politics behind, but both sides are getting nasty… Especially on the petitions (which I refuse to get involved with)

I know Jada and Lewis personally, I have worked this con for years and will contine to work it providing it doesn’t collapse under the BS of a few loud people tearing at each other’s throats.

Come to con, have fun and leave the politics at home.

    1. I agree that there is no place for death threats and other threats of violence and confrontation – from either side. Hopefully, we can soon get to a place where the political/SocJus stuff is checked at the door so we can all attend the con and just have fun.
